To improve literacy instruction in the state of Connecticut;
To advance the status of literacy research throughout Connecticut by aiding in the interpretation and application of research findings, and whenever possible, by sponsoring and participating in research studies;
To make available to its members information and resource materials which are developed through cooperative professional endeavors;
To monitor and inform legislation directed toward the improvement of literacy throughout the state;
To monitor and inform legislation designed to assure high professional standards in the field of literacy.
